As every quarter, a classification of passports for the current year is issued by a survey or agency. Before the end of the year, the British investment migration consultancy Henley & Partners has just published the second edition of its annual ranking. Are you curious to know where France stands? This ranking is based on the number of destinations that are accessible without a visa, with a visa on arrival or with an electronic visa by the citizens of these countries.
Singapore takes first place
At the beginning of the year, six countries (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan and Singapore) were right at the top of the ranking, each with a passport that made it easy to travel to 194 countries.
In its latest publication, the firm reveals that Singapore has returned to the lead (195 countries easily accessible). And it’s not really a surprise to see Singapore reclaim the lead, as for the past five years Asian nations have dominated the rankings, with Japanese and Singaporean passports leading the way. But year after year, European passports add new destinations. By 2024, a visa will no longer be required to travel to China, Mongolia, Indonesia or even Kenya for a limited period.
France remains at the top of the curve
There France tumbles and is now located at 10th place of the ranking of the most powerful passports in 2024. French citizens can travel to 192 destinations without a visa, with a visa on arrival or with an electronic visa. Although France has lost its first place, the French passport remains one of the most advantageous for traveling around the world.
Because France, with 192 countries, remains at the top of the curve with Germany, Spain, Italy and Japan. Closely followed by another group of countries with Austria, Finland, Luxembourg, Ireland, Netherlands, South Korea and Sweden (191 available countries).
And the rest of the world

Kaelin, president of Henley & Partners, ” the global average number of destinations that travelers can access without a visa has almost doubled, from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024.
